Oda Bultum University, FPS- Spanish NGOs in Ethiopia and West Hararge Catholic Secretariat (HCS) discussed cooperative agreement on different areas of interest at OBU President Office. Points like development activities, cooperative research project, various short-term trainings and sharing of knowledge and resources were the focus areas of cooperation in the bilateral discussion. The three institution also agreed to sign MoU in the near future after choosing mutual areas of interest through gradual discussions.
Professor Muktar Mohammed, OBU President highlighted during the commencement of event that OBU is currently working on the focus of internationalization, research and graduate programs. So this discussion can be a base to explore further areas and fuels up our collaborations he underlined.
According to professor Muktar, the geography where the university is located is near to pastoralist areas of West Hararge zone and this would make the future memorandums of understanding effective.
The current discussion between OBU, on one side and the two institutions on the other side intends to broaden the cooperation areas with different colleges, faculties and departments across the university.
Mr. Gerard Potch on behalf of FPS, and Dr. Belay on behalf of HCS part said that we work on equitable rights on potable water, food and income for agro-pastoralists that we are searching to collaborate with higher learning institutions like OBU on these leading areas by creating a favorable platform.
OBU has very similar priority with us to build up research, development activities, gender equality, and strengthening graduate programs,” they added.
Participants from different colleges of OBU reflected their ideas and interest on the joint session to work together with these two institutions and the event was concluded with visiting OBU research site.
