About:

The Director for Research and Extension (RED) is responsible to oversee or direct the whole process of research undertaking and dissemination of research result-knowledge and technology to the end users. Among others, the director shall perform the following major duties:

  • Formulate research, extension and publication policies, guidelines, procedures and any other working documents that governs the whole research and extension activities and ensure its implementation.
  • Facilitate and follow up of research and extension activities.
  • organize research and extension review meetings, workshops, symposium, field days and other outreach activities.
  • Aggressively work on the extension and outreach strategies for timely communication and dissemination of: research output, technologies, knowledge and innovative ideas to the end-users.
  • Performing any other related activities

OBU Internal Research Grant Process

Oda Bultum University is committed to encouraging and supporting original, problem-solving research in all streams of science. Accordingly, the University provides annual internal research funding opportunities for eligible affiliated academic staff. OBU Research and Extension Directorate Office announce calls for internal research funding applications within the first two months of the fiscal year with a clearly outlined scope and themes as well as an appropriate deadline.

Award of internal research funding at OBU is competitive based on strict evaluation of regulatory compliance with ethical, and legal considerations; feasibility in design, resources, and expertise; relevance to the institution, society, and science; and anticipated impact on the advancement of science and/or social development.

Research Achievements

The university has been conducting different research projects under different thematic areas since 2016/17 through its different colleges. In the last six years, out of the submitted 785research proposals, 451 were funded by the research office. A total of 451 research funded since 2016/17, 161 research were completed and 290 were ongoing.
