Oda Bultum University College of Agriculture Department of Horticulture provides awareness raising short term training for greenery employees, who work under facility management directorate, on the topic of ornamental plant nursery.
The training was provided on Nov.3-4/2021 at OBU hall where as 27 trainees were actively participated.
The training mainly focused on the contents of basic concepts of ornamental plants, nursery & its role for ornamental plants, management of nursery and ways of ornamental plants propagation as well as land scape design.
The main objective of the training is to raising up the awareness of trainees how to cultivate ,process and marketing ornamental plants ,including vegetables and fruits, that enables them contribute their best for the benefit of the local community and the university as well .
In addition to teaching-learning, research and community service, it is obvious that, the University has been rendering comprehensive service to the local community since its very establishment 2015.
Accordingly, in last summer season of 2021,including papaya, over 500 plant seedlings were planted in the garden of the university as an impute for green-infrastructure decorative purpose while over1300 best papaya plant seedlings were distribute to the local community from the nursery located in the garden of main campus.
In the future ten years, OBU has planned to expand nurseries by allocating adequate human and capital resources to play its role in mitigating climate change and environmental degradation.
