Background of Institute of Technology
Institute of Technology is one of the institutes launched in Oda Bultum University starting 2015. This Institute was started with one department at 2015, named as Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering Department, then additional Hydraulic and Water Resources Engineering Department has been launched at 2016 under this Institute. This program is aimed at training manpower required for the realization of the country’s vast hydropower, water resources potential and Irrigation & water Resource project development. Well-qualified Water resources, Hydraulic and Irrigation Engineers will be produced through this program who can actively be engaged in the planning; design; construction, development and management of water resources and Irrigation projects; emphasis being given to hydropower and Irrigation projects.

 Professional discipline
Specifically; the trainees will be equipped with the knowledge that enables them to execute the following tasks:
  • Undertake project identification; pre-feasibility and feasibility studies of water resources and Irrigation projects; with emphasis on hydropower projects and Agricultural development.
  • Plan water resources and hydropower projects; and design hydraulic structures required for hydropower systems, water supply systems, Irrigation systems and structures which are related with environmental protection works;
  • Prepare complete contract documents for water resources projects like hydropower projects, water supply projects, Irrigation projects, and projects which are related with environmental protection works like waste water and solid waste management ;
  • Plan, design and manage and supervise the construction of hydraulic and hydropower structures and related civil engineering works;
  • Plan, design, manage, monitor and evaluate the operation and maintenance of hydraulic and hydropower systems;
  • Remodeling and rehabilitation of existing water supply, Irrigation, hydraulic and hydropower systems.
To engage with the diversified communities of the country specifically to those near by the far distance surrounding the university, the Institute must dedicate to such endeavors as values such as that are use-centered, scholarships vital to universities in-terms of engineering roles, in teaching-learning, facilitating and generating research, and creating and disseminating knowledge far possible through accessibility, integrity, diversity, with collaboration of mutually beneficial partnership.
